Her body has created a whole network of collateral veins to compensate for this but they are too small for the large volume of blood they are required to carry, so in order to balance, the body is pushing water out of her blood, into her tissues 💧. Part of their aim of this bypass surgery was to create a new blood supply to Tilly’s heart 🫀, thus removing some of the pressure in these collateral veins 📉. Post-op in many ways Tilly got what she has been dreaming of for years - this week the dam started to burst 💧💧💧But it burst fast, too fast. We’re talking 3 litres every 3 1/2 hours 😮. On Monday night, this led critical levels of potassium and magnesium, extreme muscle cramps all over her body, her legs to visibly spasm and her core to paralyse.
