Dads are supposed to be there for you to be able to come to when you need guidance, support and care. he failed. Not you. That doesn't mean that you are not enough. You're a human being doing the best that you can to unlearn those mistakes and do better, that is the best you can do and that is enough. Just know that this dad is proud of you.

It's his dad BTW not a partner....sometimes walking away from toxic parents is most likely the best thing to do for you to get peace of mind. It'll hurt yes because you gave everything to a person who's suppose to love you and they don't change their acts or take accountability... It's a sign they'll NEVER change... He’s not willing to take accountability, he will never change. I’ve experienced the same. Was in foster care most of my life and tried to have a relationship with my dad but I had to radically accept that he will never love me.
