Vice President JD Vance argued Monday that President Trump's decision to bar three national news outlets from the White House is not a press ban but a strategy to combat what he calls propaganda. "He's not banning media outlets. What he's doing is saying we're not going to give you special access to the White House if you engage in what is effectively propaganda," he told reporters at Joint Base Andrews. "They can still report, they still have the access to free speech, they're just not going to get an office in the White House anymore, and I think that's totally appropriate, unless of course, they start to behave like real news organizations." President Trump on Friday barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House over coverage he argues is unfair to his administration. The three news outlets filed a lawsuit on Monday asking a federal court to immediately block the ban and restore their reporters' access to the White House. "President Trump has said in no uncertain terms that he would prefer only to be covered by news organizations and reporters who praise his administration," the lawsuit reads. "But the Constitution does not allow a president or any other government official to deprive the press of their First Amendment rights and liberty and property interests with no notice or process based solely on his dislike of the content of their reporting. The ban is unconstitutional and should be immediately restrained." In a show of solidarity, ABC, CBS, Fox News and NBC declined to replace CNN's camera crew for Monday's White House TV pool coverage, which CNN had been scheduled to provide. The five networks, including CNN, said they would suspend pooled coverage of presidential events. #firstamendment #press #whitehousepool #vance #trump #cspan
