@simone.stocks.therapy: There is so much pressure put on exercise: how we do it, how often we do it, how long we do it, whether it’s “working,” and whether we’re doing enough. But what if movement doesn’t have to be that serious? What if you can do it in ways that you actually enjoy? We’re told that going to the gym, using machines, lifting weights, and running are the most "legitimate" or “effective” ways to exercise. These are all perfectly good options, but they don’t have to be your choice for exercise if they aren’t enjoyable or realistic for you. There are SO many ways to move your body, after all. If you want to bring more movement into your life, I often recommend starting with something you enjoy. Build a relationship with movement that feels pleasurable and sustainable first. Here are a few questions I use with clients to help make movement more realistic, fun, and fit into their actual lives: - What type of movement did you enjoy growing up? - Is there anything you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet? What do you want to feel afterward? - What are your barriers to movement? Think about work, family obligations, money, motivation, disability, access, time, etc. - What kind of exercise do you like the least? Let’s take those off the table for now and come back to them later if you want. What is your favorite way to move your body right now? #MovementForPleasure #BodyTrust #HealthAtEverySize #MovementCoach
