@loganwalkerwildlife: This little one rocked the birding world last week. I'm still pretty new to all things birds, so I'm not super clued up on some of the more scarce species. But I've learned that if there's a big group of people all looking through scopes at the same area, it's worth asking them what they've spotted. And it turns out they had spotted the spotted crake. Fewer than 30 pairs breed in the UK, and even the ones that are here are notoriously difficult to see. They spend most of their time deep in the reeds, with the only clue to their presence being their nighttime calls. There hadn't been one recorded on the reserve since 2015, so it seems this was a big deal.
