I think the gap in what you’re saying that is missed by the bad side of gentle parenting is that normal frustration could still need redirection! Your example of the trash still requires communication - you may want to say “I’ll do it in a few minutes,” and that’s totally fine, but SAYING that and not throwing a tantrum is still a lesson. We can validate the feelings and accept the reaction but help direct the way the negative emotion finds its outlet.

I say this all the time! ANYONE would be frustrated if someone walked up to the tv and turned off their show and said “put your shoes on right now, we’re leaving” with no warning. I always let my kids know plans for the day and what to expect

The way some people treat their kids is wild. I would never snap and yell at an adult unless it was seriously warranted. These are the people I love most in the entire world. Why would I talk like crap to them? Then people use it as a slur that I am "gentle parenting" oh well. So be it.
