@totpmemories: 🖤🔥 KILLER / PAPA WAS A ROLLIN’ STONE — GEORGE MICHAEL (1991/1993) George Michael took TWO completely different classics… and somehow made them sound like one song. 🤯 On one side was “Killer” — the groundbreaking 1990 electronic hit created by Adamski and sung by Seal. On the other was “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone” — the dark Motown masterpiece made famous by The Temptations in 1972. Two different decades. Two completely different worlds. George Michael connected them perfectly. 🔥 He performed the songs live at Wembley Arena in March 1991, transforming Killer into a darker, funkier performance before moving almost seamlessly into Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone. The recordings were later included on the Five Live EP in 1993. And Five Live had an incredible story of its own. The EP also featured George’s legendary performance of “Somebody to Love” with Queen from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert — and the proceeds benefited the Mercury Phoenix Trust. ❤️ It went all the way to No. 1 in the UK. 🇬🇧🔥 But George’s Killer / Papa combination developed a life of its own. A special P.M. Dawn remix was released in 1993, and the track reached No. 5 on Billboard’s Dance Club chart in the US. 🇺🇸🪩 Even the video was unusual: George Michael barely appeared in it, continuing the period in which he was deliberately trying to move attention away from his image and toward the music. 🎥 No Careless Whisper. No Faith. No obvious pop formula. Just George Michael taking two legendary records and completely making them his own. 🖤 Is this one of George Michael’s most underrated performances ever? 👇🔥. #GeorgeMichael #9#90sMusicK#KillerM#MusicTokBehindTheSong
