Day 16/30 ♥️ I’ve been thinking about this for a while… Does London have a worship music excellence problem? 👀 I’ve been looking for churches in London where there’s a real culture of excellence around worship music, and I’m genuinely struggling. I mean worship teams that are intentional about the MUSIC they offer to God... musicianship, arrangements, vocals, sound, preparation, creativity… everything. Sometimes, it feels like there’s a culture of “we are doing enough” around church music here, and I struggle with that. Not because worship has to be perfect. Not because excellence is more important than the presence of God. And definitely not because Churches need the best singers, expensive equipment or a massive production budgets. Im talking about the attention to detail that says, “What we’re offering to God matters.” Sometimes it feels like we’ve created this strange idea in church that because it’s “worship,” excellence somehow doesn’t matter. “As long as our hearts are right.” But why should a right heart produce a careless offering? That’s the part I struggle with. I watch worship teams from churches in the US and elsewhere and see the amount of thought, rehearsal, creativity and musical intentionality that goes into what they offer… and I find myself asking: Where are the London equivalents? And maybe that’s completely on me. Maybe I just haven’t found them yet. 😅 So rather than just complaining, I want to discover and celebrate the churches/music teams in London that are putting in the work! Tag a church/worship team in London that you think is doing something EXCELLENT musically. Big Church. Small Church. Famous. Unknown. I don’t care. I genuinely want to discover them, listen to them and hopefully visit some of these churches.
