(Japanese: ネコぱら, Nekopara) is a Japanese visual novel and anime series created by Neko Works. The story takes place in a world where catgirls, known as “Nekos,” live alongside humans. These Nekos look mostly human but have cat ears, tails, and certain cat-like traits. The story follows Kashou Minaduki, a young man who leaves his family's traditional Japanese confectionery shop to open his own patisserie, La Soleil. While setting up his new shop, he discovers that two of his family's Nekos, Chocola and Vanilla, have secretly followed him there. Although he initially tries to send them home, they convince him to let them stay and help at the patisserie. Chocola is energetic, cheerful, affectionate, and always eager to help Kashou. She can sometimes be clumsy and overly enthusiastic, but she genuinely cares about the people around her. Vanilla, her younger twin sister, is much quieter and calmer. She tends to speak less and has a more serious personality, but she is extremely caring toward Chocola and the rest of the family. As the story continues, Kashou and the Nekos work together at La Soleil while meeting other Nekos, including Coconut, Azuki, Maple, and Cinnamon. Each character has a different personality and their own interests, but they gradually become like a close family. Their everyday lives involve running the café, preparing sweets, dealing with small problems, and supporting one another. At its heart, Nekopara is a lighthearted slice-of-life story about family, friendship, working toward your dreams, and the bonds between people and Nekos.
