@talkingsafety39: Using Claude Skills to Build an ISO Integrated Management System In this video, I demonstrate how I use Claude Skills (AI) to develop the document architecture for a client’s Integrated Management System (IMS) covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Instead of starting with a generic ISO template pack, the Claude Skill helps me build a client-specific documentation structure based on the organisation’s activities, processes and applicable ISO requirements. The Skill produces a structured document register showing: • Document number and logical numbering structure • Applicable ISO clause(s) • Document name/title • Recommended format • Purpose and key sections • Required inputs and outputs • Who uses the document and when • Links to associated implementation records • Interrelationships between documents What problems does this solve? 1. Integrating the three ISO standards It helps identify where processes can be integrated and where separate documentation may still be necessary, reducing the risk of overlooking environmental or OH&S requirements. 2. Avoiding “one-size-fits-all” ISO templates A documentation system designed for a 3,000-employee steel plant should not simply be imposed on a 15-person law firm. The Skill helps build documentation around the actual organisation and its processes, rather than forcing the organisation to fit a template. 3. Creating a logical documentation structure It helps determine when a requirement calls for a policy, procedure, work instruction, form, register or record — and how these documents should fit together within the IMS. 4. Creating a consistent document numbering system The Skill develops a numbering structure that can accommodate integrated documents as well as discipline-specific documents, while remaining scalable as the organisation grows. 5. Improving traceability to ISO requirements Each document can be mapped back to the relevant ISO clause, making it easier to demonstrate how requirements are addressed and how the system fits together. 6. Avoiding over-documentation ISO certification does not mean creating hundreds of procedures and forms. A good IMS should provide the documented information necessary to control the organisation’s processes — and no more than necessary. 7. Identifying important registers and records The process helps identify documentation that can easily be missed, including environmental aspects, legal requirements, quality risks, OH&S hazards, operational controls and associated records.
