@top_maths_5m: How can we build a square wave using simple sine waves? This animation shows the Fourier decomposition: a square wave can be reconstructed by adding its fundamental frequency and its odd harmonics, whose frequencies are integer multiples of the fundamental. Each harmonic is represented by a rotating circle: the higher the harmonic, the faster it rotates, while its amplitude gets smaller. By progressively adding more harmonics, the resulting signal gets closer and closer to a square wave. The sum is infinite… but just a few harmonics are already enough to reveal its characteristic shape. #math #animation #fyp #mathematics #fourier
