In the 1980s I was a student working on a psych unit in chicago. we had a lady who had returned several times with the delusions that people were crawling through her wall at night and assaulting her. she lived in very low income housing project on a very high level floor so nobody could be coming through the one living room window she had. so we're treating her for the 72-hour hold and she goes back home and a few days later she ends up murdered and people had in fact been coming through her wall to assault her. the cheap construction of this unit had allowed for her neighbor to pull his medicine cabinet out of the wall and then push her adjoining cabinet in and then he crawled through a hole in the wall in her bathroom! I was 22 years old and that has changed how I see the world.

OMG THIS HAPPENED TO MY AUNT!!!!! She was diagnosed schizophrenic and years later it hit me that she’s actually gifted!! She is not mentally ill she is gifted!!!

(Without breaking HIPAA, obviously) how did the other patients react to this? Because if I was in a locked psychiatric unit with someone who said that the FBI was after her, and then the FBI showed up and took her, I would definitely feel some kind of way about it.

There was a girl in the UK who was adamant there was someone living in her loft. She was know to have mental health issues, so nobody believed her a doctors just shoved her on high doses of medication. Turns out she was right and someone was squatting in her loft

One time I stayed at a psych ward and there was as a schizophrenic who claimed he is a doctor. No one except myself believed him. Turned out he was in fact a real doctor suffering from schizophrenia.

Even my mother's attempt saying that the whole family said there was something evil about me when I was born getting the huge kn*fe and just standing their begging 10 yrs old , only until my 7 yr old sister stood in front of me putting sense into her then she stopped , cried hugging and apologising to my sister. But that experience is the least traumatic and very rarely pops up in my head.

So… funny story. Friend of mine has gone thru recovery. But before, she swore there were red eyes in the trees at her dealers house. They all made fun of her every time she mentioned it. Turned out to be cameras the feds installed to catch the dealer 😂

The #1 piece here that’s bothering me is “wipe her record”. No! That sounds illegal and like a no no!! They take her and now she’ll be a missing person that nobody will ever look for. I don’t trust the govmt at all and none of us should! That’s awful. Poor lady. She saw something she shouldn’t have and now it’s being covered up.

i had an individual that went to her psychiatrist because she was "seeing and hearing" a racoon in her room that "no one" was seeing or hearing. during one of my group sessions, she mentioned and other individuals said that there was a racoon indeed that was getting into the ceiling and making a lot of noise... i visited the unit and guess what... I saw the racoon by the roof... I had to write the provider and let them know that she was not having hallucinations...🫠

my dad was schizophrenic and it's so true that people just need someone to listen to them without denying their claims during episodes. Its wild she was right but people with paranoia inducing disorders Do pick up on weird patterns and behaviours more than the "average" person. My dad was right about So. Many. inexplicable things, he could read people like a book
