‼️ Not every 2am wake-up is hunger. But not every wake-up is “bad sleep” either. And that’s where most exhausted moms get stuck. You’re up at 12. 2. 4. 5. Feeding feels like the fastest way back to quiet. And sometimes? It is hunger. Especially in the newborn months. But once you’re past that early phase, constant night waking is usually about something else: Sleep associations. If your baby falls asleep feeding, rocking, bouncing, or being held every night, that becomes the way they know how to get to sleep. So when they wake overnight, they often look for the exact same thing again. Not necessarily because they’re hungry. But because that’s how they know how to fall back asleep. And this is where self-settling changed our nights completely. I didn’t need to teach my daughter not to wake. I taught her another way to fall asleep. So when she woke between sleep cycles, she didn’t automatically need me to recreate bedtime at 12, 2, 4 and 5am. And no, that doesn’t mean ignoring genuine hunger or expecting a baby to never need you overnight. It means giving them another option besides needing the exact same help every single time they fall back asleep. 🌙 Drop “SETTLE” into my DMs to get the full responsive 7-day self-settling plan I used to teach my baby that skill. 🤍
