Dex's primary narrative function in Matt’s life is literally destruction. In the original series DD, Dex operates with intent as Wilson Fisk's puppet, BRUTALLY murdering Father Lantom and terrorizing Karen Page. In Daredevil Born Again, Dex crosses a line of no return by assassinating Matt’s lifelong best friend, Foggy Nelson, in cold blood with no struggle just pure joy and pride. Suggesting a fucking romantic connection between a hero and the man who butchered his closest brother-in-arms and father figure completely undermines the tragedy of those losses. So this fantasy clashes with the fundamental reality of what’s actually happening! Do you understand! Dex and Matt have a toxic dynamic which consists of taunting and harmful conflicting psychological trauma. Additionally, it doesn’t fit!! I can only validate such things, but I will not tolerate this. He hurt Matt in many ways that have crossed [the line of] having mutual respect. He does it because he absolutely loves being in control and having power. That’s his purpose, power, control, and killing. They have different motives to thrive in this society, and Dex has wrongful morals and motives. That clashes with Matt’s logic and ethics.If it weren’t for Foggy’s inspirational influence and the religious beliefs grounding Matt’s moral compass, Matt would have given Dex a lethal fate. Dex has hurt Matt in ways that have completely destroyed any possibility of mutual respect. Ultimately, any empathy Matt extends is completely one-sided. Dex lacks an internal moral compass, which robs him of true empathy and the capacity for genuine emotions. His mental illness and lack of internal grounding damage his psychological health, and while he could theoretically try to help himself, he lacks the guidance and the passion to do so. His only true passion is for killing and malice. While Matt and Dex may mirror each other on a dark psychological level, but hell their interactions are hostile. They do not share intimate dialogue.
