great film love how so many critics say that Mozart wasnt like this but yet that man wrote VERY GRAPHIC poem to women he found attractive and also wrote a song telling people to lick his ass

I love this topic. IRL, Salieri was more popular than Mozart at the time. His shows sold better, his audiences were always full. The rivalry was a myth. They only competed for commissions. They collabed on a Cantata. Salieri attended Mozart’s performances and publicly praised them. Salieri conducted Mozart’s 40th symphony. And later taught music to Mozart’s son. Mozart’s passing propelled his stardom, whereas Salieri simply faded from the scene.

Yes, Mozart and Salieri really did compete for royalty once and the overture each wrote was thematically similar, but Mozart wrote a masterpiece for the ages and Salieri was crude just like this. Exactly.

I took a music history class, and the history on Mozart is very accurate. It’s Salieri’s story that is inaccurate. But that’s also the genius behind the film because the one telling the story is Salieri. So, it’s his reality.

Honest question? What he literally just working on something because he thought he could fix it (like an itch that needs scratching) or was this a deliberate attempt to humiliate that guy. I sometimes think both things.

Great movie but that never happened. They both respected each other. Salieri trained his kid and Beethoven
