@jothemama: Just because you’re in the place where certain behaviors would be appropriate doesn’t mean you’re in a time where certain behaviors would be acceptable #icedcoffee #ettiquette #fyp

Let me as you this. What about kids and trying to wear pjs to school ? I hate it but a lot of kids do it … who’s valid in that situation? so I don’t feel like I have a stick up my ssa 😅

1996 baby- ill bring an iced coffee to my first day of work but I won't even bring a water bottle to an interview. that stays in the car until youre done. interviews are what? 15-45 minutes most of the time? being professional matters.

As an individual who used to be the person holding the interviews, I don’t care if you have a drink. But don’t shake the ice around, don’t slurp, don’t slouch in your seat. And yeah, hard stop on the pimple patches. (1988 millennial here)

I agree with you, but I believe people are so dense these days that no matter how well you explain it, they have made up their minds and won't change. I am a younger millennial..

I'm genx and I did an interview with a young girl around 2003 and she had all the nerve to answer her phone DURING the interview! I immediately said ok thanks for coming in we will let you know if you get the job, I trashed her application immediately!

If I was the interviewee, I would NEVER. But as an interviewer, I couldn’t care less lol I guess that’s the millennial in me

Another zillenial here, but one in HR - do not bring anything besides your bag to an interview. This is all about first impression. You want a job? Act like it. Btw in some industries bringing an iced coffee to a meeting would also be considered disrespectful…

Why does it feel marginally more appropriate to bring a hot coffee 😂

I worked in licensed childcare...as somebody who is the interviewer, there's nothing more annoying than the slurp, slurp and jingle, jingle of ice while you're trying to ask questions to see if the person is a good fit for your program.

100%. as a millennial working with several gen Z, this is exactly my issue honestly. the world itself has normalized acting this way and they think it's okay. tbh, we need to bring back shaming just a little bit

I don’t think it’s a drink that’s the problem because I think bringing a water bottle is fine if you’re a little hoarse or your mouth is dry. I think anything besides water wouldn’t be appropriate. Coffee breath is nasty and no one wants to smell that.

Elder Millenial Manager here. Like almost Gen X. I don't care. Bring the iced coffee. I'd have a coffee too. Star patch? No. And yes, you have to dress appropriately. Print a resume to bring? Yes. Look professional and tudy. Do I care if you have a drink? Nope.

I've been to multiple interviews where they offered me coffee and water. 😅 I think this controversy is dumb and just boomers wanting to control dumb stuff that has nothing to do with anything actually important

I feel the same way about people who wear jeans to job interviews. When I was a hiring manager it made me really not want to hire someone. What happened to dressing for interviews?

“Well I shouldn’t be judged on my ability to do a job based on bringing an iced coffee” yeah sure whatever but you are going to be judged. That’s the whole point of a job interview. Just because you don’t like that social norm doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. Get hired, climb to social ladder, and change the social environment yourself, then

Also remember to dress nicely for the job your being interviewed for… interviewing for an office job and interviewing for a farm job, different environment.
