My mum had a rule that I had to ‘stick to her like glue’. I never understood until I saw myself on tv in 2007. I looked terrifyingly like madeleine mccann. We even got pulled over on holiday multiple times because of it.

My mom needing the full names, phone numbers and addresses of my friends parents is relatable. And as a kid I also thought it was reasonable because, being a child of the 90’s, I was taught “stranger danger” and all that stuff. The only difference is that when I got older, my mom would look up my friend’s parents to see if they were diddler-offenders. (She worked at a juvy prison as a social worker and she seen/read some things.)

Growing up in a small town, I was always told if I hear a woman or baby in distress, never go towards the noise. Heard what sound sounded like a woman screaming one time and ran home to get help, went back to the area where I heard the noise with some adults, sure enough there was mountain lion prints. Mountain lions can sound like a woman in distress.

there is nk rules in my family i learn to put rules on my self simply because i saw how mh mom lives, how i grow up and how i feel growing up. "never betray your self, if loving means hurting just walk away"
