My go to is always “Hello I’m [insert name], we met [insert time or place], it’s lovely to see you again”. This gives them a nice reminder of your name but also politely lets them know you’ve met and think well of them.

When people re-introduce themselves to me and I know we’ve met. I assume they don’t remember me and it’s immediately off putting. Instead “hi, I believe we have met, I’m…”

Yes! I’m married to a politician and I try my best but I forget names frequently. So I always re-introduce myself. And then I just pray that the person says their name back to me. I cringe when they tell me you don’t need to introduce yourself to me. That’s not why I’m doing it! And I’m not so arrogant as to think that everyone remembers my name.

Sometimes if im in a small group of people and i think someone doesnt know my name and they look too shy to ask, Ill tell a short story about my husband telling me something and make sure to say my name in the story

If someone I had met before gave their name to me again like that, I would think they don’t remember me (and that can make you feel not great). Might it not to better to acknowledge that you met and remind them of your name? “Lovely to see you again, you may not remember me as it has been so long, we met at this place, I am so and so”.

Nah that’s not how most people are, they’d feel offended if you introduced yourself as if they didn’t remember because they also implies that you don’t remember them. And that may cause some issues. I prefer just to be honest and say oh my gosh, where do I know you from and then say something like tell me your name again, please! With a lot of smiley faces. And then I’m just overly excited to see them again and catch up.

It’s embarrassing when I introduce myself & then the other person say’s “we’ve already met”…..so I just say “It’s so good to see you”
