I am a employer group specialist. Call your former employer and ask the for the information for the Cobra administrator. As long as you have your receipts from your payments the administrator can coordinate with the carrier to update your coverage status during that time. Your receipts may also have the number for customer service for the Cobra admin.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), all ACA‑compliant health insurance plans must cover pre‑existing conditions without denying coverage, raising premiums, or imposing waiting periods, while short‑term limited‑duration plans remain the major exception.

when you were offered cobra, and then took it, you should have gotten lots of paperwork that gave you phone numbers and email for customer support. if this is not the case, that's wrong, in which case call your previous insurance. cobra is still your old insurance, it's just you are paying it yourself now.

Cobra is not a company. You have the same ins you had before. So call the number on the back of your ins card to find out why they aren’t paying. Remember your ins got cancelled when you were laid off but then you chose to continue your ins. It then takes your HR dept time to reinstate your ins. So it might just be that the doctor needs to re-bill. The first bill might of went through before your coverages were reinstated. But now they should be do if the doctor bills again it will then be covered. Your HR dept can help you or customer service for your ins company.

Cobra is just the act/law that allows you to keep your previous insurance. You can talk to the insurance company just as if your employer was paying. You can also contact the US Department of Labor.

You should have a cobra administrator. Did the provider put in your new insurance information for cobra? Your group number would have changed

This might be a silly question but have you filed for disability? I got a lawyer and he filed for me and I was approved in 10 weeks. You have some different things going on than I do, but I believe some of the same stuff. Please think about it. I'll can tell you what I did as far as making sure they know everything that is wrong with me.

Call the insurance. The one you paid for. Because they will try this hoping you don’t fight. Unfortunately

I would try starting the previous insurance. I'm sorry you are going through this but you are very smart and you'll find a solution.

I would actually start with the number on the bills on which they are saying you didn’t have insurance. Provide receipts for your insurance. They will need to resubmit. Then call your former insurance company and confirm status (provide copies of payments if needed) and say the doctors are claiming insurance is stating you weren’t covered.

Im not 100%, but pretty certain that having cobra means you keep that previous insurance so you can contact that previous insurance company.

You need to call your old insurance company- your old job still pays for it and you reimburse them with cobra so technically you are still under their policy but you’re paying for it. You can reach out to the HR department at your old employer and tell them what’s going on and they can help you or you reach out to your insurance company that you’ve been covered with and they should have record of your payments through the company.

It’s going to be okay. Of worse comes to worst call your Congressperson. They can often make the insurance companies knock off the BS.

Is this resolved? Please don’t make any payments on anything. I don’t think you even needed cobra and may have not been given correct info from the surgeons office.

I'm so sorry you're going through that...what a nightmare. You should have gotten paperwork from cobra with your rights when you first got laid off.... otherwise I'd contact your prior insurance company. I've not had to claim cobra but I've been on it. There's a way through this.
