We can’t control number of students, can’t control their home language, we can’t control their disabilities, we can’t control their home life, we can’t control the curriculum, we can’t control their efforts, and we can’t control the staff. But, it’s my fault if they can’t read.

Teachers are FORCED to pass everyone!!! That’s it. School leaders strive for two things….1.) Happy parents, and 2.) A beautiful School Report Card. Students today are fully aware that effort is more of a suggestion. They know they’ll just be passed on. Teachers feel like, “Why bother? Just give them the grades.” 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

teachers do get credit in the eval rubric you flippantly dismissed at the beginning. your argument is basically.... "if you get rid of all the things that show teachers being rewarded for a kids success... I can't find a thing that shows teachers getting rewarded for a kids success"

Follow the money… all of the money a district receives is tied to numbers, data, scores, number of referrals etc etc. This would be a great topic to pursue. When all of this was implemented is when schools started to fail our students AND teachers.

teacher here, teacher evaluations are nonsense. it seems they change bi-annually and every time they change the process becomes more cumbersome and puts more of a burden on the teacher. it would be great if teachers could just teach and not have to deal with developing and keeping track of all this so-called data. we all know data-driven decision making is just extra work to show people in offices. how teachers are trying to change things and Link it to student success.

honesty ..truth... assessments being graded within 10 days, one assessment a week, taking roll, showing up on time, doing your non instructional duty....evaluations are simple check marks ..not productive... you make valid points... the real issue, IMHO, is that no one, I mean no one wants to work together anymore..at all ..significant change in last 20 years. 38 years here, 6 as a principal, 8 as a sup...

school boards are voted in on popularity instead of qualifications, superintendents have grown the administrative side of education to the point that adminstrative cost are at as much cost as classroom teachers.

All o can control as the teacher is 1. My lesson plans that is all I can control. I do not get to choose my curriculum. I do not get to choose the state standards. I do not get to control who my principal is. I do not get control who is on my class. I do not get to control my own schedule. I do get to control how long I get spend on a state standards. I do not control being able to teach the background knowledge a child needs to have to be successful on the current standard. So yep all I control is the lesson plans that I type up each week for my principal. Nothing more and nothing less!

The the current school where I work, they have started putting the great distribution of your classes in your evaluation. Now, what do you think teachers are going to do when they’re great distribution is a part of them keeping their job being their family doesn’t take a genius to figure out what he’s going to happen.
