@thezenhenandthehoneybee: Natural Liquid Soap can be made at home with pretty much any oil/lipid. Castile Soap is made with Olive oil. Different oils will give the soap different properties. Eg. Some oils make for sudsier soaps, some are stronger cleansers and some are gentler. My favorite recipe I’ve developed uses a combination of different oils. If there’s interest, I’m happy to share more of these recipies. It’s important to note that in general oils cannot be substituted for each other in these soap recipes. Each oil has its own saponification value which means it requires a different amount of calculated KOH to balance it. Beginner Friendly Olive Oil Castile Soap Recipe: Olive Oil (or Avocado Oil -must be pure, not cut with other oils and no other oil substitutions should be made) 1000 grams Potassium Hydroxide 210 grams Distilled Water 250 grams Glycerin 250 grams Fragrance Oil up to 30 grams
I started making my own Castile soap using your recipe! It turned out great. Where do you get the little mason jars?

Could you make the whole batch unscented and then add essential oils when you go to put it into the hand soap bottles?

With your recipe, what was the dilution ratio from the soap to water at the end (for when we’re ready to use it) you had added water to your instant pot to dissolve it and I just wanna make sure my ratios are right TIA!

This is fantastic! I make bar soap with lye, and I'm hoping that gives me enough benefit of the doubt to ask, can I make it without the slow cooker, and use an induction burner and appropriate pot? I have a pot specifically for soap making. If it's not possible, I understand, please let me know. 😁
