There was a moment in part two where it all clicked for me. One of the horsemen was talking to the group of side characters collected through out part 2, and was talking about how all of them were boring and useless. Then it clicked, Makima got rid of all the joy in Denji’s life, and all that was left were those leftover scraps that constituted nothing but pure boredom. The only character from part 2 that was interesting was Asa, and she by herself was not enough to help Denji overcome his demons. Even at the end, the chainsaw devil had a flawed understanding of humanity, and even his reasoning for ending himself was flawed, but he understood one thing. Denji would never be able to live to see his dreams come true as long as the chainsaw devil was around. So he sacrificed himself for those dreams to actually happen. Meanwhile, Asa, she had no true way to escape her doom. Yoru was gonna end her no matter what. Denji overwriting her fate was the only way the two of them would ever get a chance at happiness.

The best way I can interpret part 2 is Fujimoto forfeiting chainsawman. Sure it was good once, but the creative juices have run up and the things run its course. I wanted to say chainsawman died after the final chapter, but in hindsight, it was dead for a while, Fujimoto just weakened at Bernie's-ed that shit until he could end it. I think Fujimoto is still a good writer, but if he ever made a chainsawman part 3, it would do nothing but suck ass.

Idek, you can say part one is better than part two but I enjoyed reading part two so much more than part one, I hear a lot of people complain about the bad pacing, but I think that’s because they were reading it as the weekly release and it’s better as a whole.
