I am a male, white Bull Terrier. Age: The shelter staff think I am about 5 years old. Found At: I was found at Ranch Dr/ N Mccarthy Blvd More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 10, 2026. Goose has been placed on NR FINAL as of 09/20/2026. He must be pulled by 5:00 PM on 09/27/2026, or he will be humanely euthanized. Goose has demonstrated positive social and handling behaviors with people while outside of his kennel and is very affiliative and excited around people. Goose will approach handlers and allow handling when outside of the kennel. However, Goose has demonstrated significant/severe reactivity toward other dogs. When introduced to a like-sized male dog, Goose pulled hard toward the dog while growling and barking with stiff posture and a high and stuff tail. When he got within close proximity, Goose attempted to bite the other dog. Goose was then introduced to a female dog and displayed the same behavior, pulling toward the dog, growling and barking, followed by an attempt to bite the female helper dog when he got close. Goose continued to remain focused on the helper dogs while attempting to pull toward them and was unable to disengage until the other dog was completely out of sight. Given the intensity and consistency of his reactions toward both male and female dogs, Goose's interactions with other animals should be carefully considered. Although he has shown positive interactions around his handlers, Goose's significant reactivity toward other dogs, including hard pulling, growling, barking, and attempted biting, suggests that placement should be with an experienced rescue organization that can provide a lower-stress environment, appropriate decompression time, individualized behavioral support, and appropriate safety and management protocols. His behavior around other animals should be carefully considered when developing a management, handling, and placement plan. Goose will need an experienced owner/rescue who will work with a trainer that understands dog to dog reactivity/aggression. Goose is available for rescue only. A rescue partner must commit to and pull Goose by 5:00 PM on 09/27/2026, or he will be humanely euthanized. EXTENSION REQUEST PROCESS A Rescue Group (RG) may request an extension of an animal's Needs Rescue Final Date no later than 5:00 PM on the noted final date by emailing SJRescue@sanjoseca.gov, with a cc to a Division Manager or Shelter Operations Supervisor. 09/14/26 08:57 Sweet boy who allows handling.
