This is why you have to stay true to yourself. You can love her and give her your attention, but when you make her your entire world, you’re putting yourself in a position where the fear of losing her starts deciding how you live. You start neglecting your goals, compromising your boundaries, and accepting shit you wouldn’t normally accept because keeping her happy becomes more important than respecting yourself. I’m not saying become cold or act like you don’t care. I’m saying have enough direction in your own life that if things ended, you’d still have something to stand on. It would hurt, obviously, but you need to trust yourself to rebuild. And she should be able to feel that stability through how you carry yourself, how you handle your responsibilities, and whether you actually stand by what you say. Being attentive doesn’t make you a pushover, but constantly folding because you’re scared she’ll leave absolutely puts you in that position. You should be able to love someone fully and still tell them no. Have your own goals, your own opinions, and standards you actually hold yourself to. If you have to keep abandoning those things to make the relationship work, you need to question what you’re trying so hard to hold onto.
