Texan here. I’ve made this hot milk cake for years. The only difference is I add coconut to the caramel and let it broil on the cake for a few minutes. So good!

My MIL made us all recipe books years ago. For Mother’s Day this year, my husband remade it and added recipes from all of her kids’ kitchens and included pics of our kids cooking and pictures of the dishes. She said it was the best gift she’s ever gotten. Agree on handmade gifts

We are doing a thrift Christmas this year. Everything given must be thrifted. last year we did a book as a gift and the year before was homemade gifts. I realized I didn't like Christmas because it was always a financial burden. I'd spend the next 6 months playing catch up only to worry about saving for the holiday 6 months away. I love Christmas now for the traditions and family gatherings. It works for my family now because I have grown children.
