My beautiful daughter, Today marks six months of this hospitalization. I can’t fully wrap my mind around how quickly that time has passed since I brought you into the ER at Potomac Valley. This milestone brings up a lot of feelings. One of the strongest right now is sadness. Sadness shows up when we love someone deeply, and there is no limit to how much I love you. Sadness can sometimes make it hard to hold all the parts of a moment at the same time—the “both/and.” I can feel deeply sad about everything you’ve endured, while also feeling incredibly grateful for every day we’ve had together. I can grieve the moments that have been stolen from your childhood while celebrating the strength you’ve shown through every challenge. Six months is a long time for anyone, especially for a child. Six months of hospital rooms, procedures, uncertainty, and waiting. Yet through it all, you have continued to amaze me. Your courage, your resilience, and even your smallest smiles have carried me through some of the hardest days of my life. There are days when I wish I could take all of this pain away from you. Days when I would give anything to trade places with you. But since I can’t, I will keep doing the only thing I know how to do: loving you with every part of my heart and standing beside you every step of the way. To everyone who has prayed, encouraged us, shared our story, or simply thought of us during these six months—thank you. Your kindness has helped carry us through some very dark moments. If you feel led to continue supporting our journey, whether through prayers, sharing our story, or helping with the ongoing expenses of this long hospitalization, it would mean more to our family than words can express. You are stronger than you know, braver than you realize, and more loved than words could ever express. No matter how long this journey lasts, I will never stop believing in you. I will never stop fighting for you. And I will never stop being grateful that I get to be your mom. I love you endlessly, my sweet girl. Today, tomorrow, and every day after that. ❤️
