Had a “behavior” kid that they refused to allow in honors because he was so “bad.” I said that baby is too smart and that’s why he acts out - he is bored. Let him be my problem. He is in my honors class. Guess who is an angel now. That’s right. Behavior kids just need to know that someone genuinely cares about them. And I don’t write them up for every little infraction. I tell them everyday is a new chance to make better choices for them and myself - and I mean it🫶

Year 19 and I’ve always been that teacher. The rough kids LOVE ME. Dealers? Pfft. Gang members? I’m protected 💅🏻 But then this year…out of the blue I’ve had a rough, unhinged kid threaten mine and my teenage daughter’s life (he’s now gone), and also this insanely explosively belligerent kid who makes every day a living hell. I honestly don’t know how to handle this. I’m the rough kid whisperer and they just flat out hate me.
