Cars fundamentally only have to work in 2 dimensions of movement, as they’re unable to manipulate hight in any reasonable factor on their own, and really they can only go forwards and backwards, the wheel turning only changes forwards and backwards relative to the car. The ship has full fundamental 3 dimensions of active movement, and therefore a car system is just not up to standard. Even most planes would be inadequate because they are also unable to really go in any direction, they’re just able to change the direction of forwards by the z axis as well. A helicopter or plane capable of vtol might be the closest proxy we would have, maybe a submarine, and theres no way in hell grace can pilot those, nor do I think their control scheme would even be applicable to the specialization needed for the hail mary.
