Baudrillard died in 2007, and he was 77 years old at the time. I doubt he said that quote, though there’s some potential overlap with famous examples of that color grading like Traffic (2000), I just think of him as being active prior to that cliche being established and commented on

It rings a bell- veteran of the 1980s Theory Wars, here 🤓. Baudrillard and Eco both said similar things. It’s all simulacra, issue being that all simulacra are consciously managed for plausibility and emotional resonances, ergo reality goes POOF and you end up with Blue Raspberry Soda, and digitally generated small yellow animated plastic figurines offering realpolitik.
