I mean I’m 31 and started at 22 built $100m by cold calling my first 3-4 years. Now referrals line up. Brought on 13m this year from referrals. I don’t understand why people think that’s impossible. And it’s actually $1m rev. $750k profit to me.

Steven, most CFP’s recommend low cost index investing. They bring value from tax, peace of mind, and planning for future events rather than outperforming the market. What are your thoughts on this, and personally for me I’d never give 1-1.5% of my portfolio to someone to do that.

The problem with this is the problem with most financial advisors it is focusing on gathering assets and how much money you can make off the assets as opposed to the real value and alpha you should be striving to generate with the assets entrusted to you

I’ve been a sole searcher for over a year. Micro PE. Found a business to buy 2 months ago. Probably 10K calls and texts to get there. Raising money for is brutal and harder.

I follow you and have for a good while. Question….. I have degrees in economics and finance. In this economy….. I’m starting to think I should have just been an accountant. It seems as wealth dispersion becomes more unequal… that my ideas of being… something more than a cold caller at 7pm that interrupts the family dinner becomes less and less. Then again I’ve seen that the country is on track to have a lack of financial advisors in the next decade as another generation goes off in the wild blue yonder. A lot of avenues just seem closed off. Not for repairs; as in someone bought the ally way and sold everyone’s trash cans for scrap. I’m just… tired. Character ment something once before. So did work. But it seems that unless your the son of J.P. Morgan you ain’t getting in. I just want my own apartment and a sandwich. Even bank teller positions are ghosts or no thanks.

In my opinion, cold calling to build a book of business as a young advisor in today’s world is becoming increasingly outdated. For young advisors, a more effective path is joining an established, credible, high revenue producing team that generates referrals. By contributing, building client trust, and gaining experience while still making a modest living doing so, they can eventually assume greater responsibility as senior advisors (hopefully) retire. Just hope those senior advisors shit head sons don’t get into the business lol
