I think it’s hard when you know they don’t do it on purpose and it’s a trauma response but it hurts and if you don’t place any boundaries for yourself it’ll just lead to you being hurt and being stuck in an endless cycle.

He’s come back so many times but will never do this - he just wants me never to mention what he did ever again and if I don’t then I’m the one ruining everything. I did that for 24 yrs - the extent and horrifying details of what he did over those years don’t just go away. But he’s a covert narc disguising himself as an avoidant for sympathy.

my half apology I got after disappearing for 4 months was "I'm not a complete jerk." moral on the story: stop waiting on them to come back. they come back sideways in layers of plausible deniability, no accountability, and no growth.
