My soul dog went to heaven on October 1st, and it was one of the saddest days we’ve ever lived. TBH, I was never really a “dog person,” I never understood it. I wasn’t allowed to have dogs growing up, so at 39, during the first week of COVID, my dream dog pranced in through my door and into my heart. We were lucky enough to be the family chosen to rehome Cashy when he was just two little years old, and instantly I knew he would be my soul dog. I will never forget his first day home. He barely acknowledged any of us, ran right through the house and jumped straight into the pool 😂 Almost like he already knew he was home and that he would spend the next six years swimming in that pool, chasing tennis balls and having the time of his life. He was truly the best unplanned gift I have ever received. Cash was such a character. He was terrified of citrus 🍊😂 and ridiculously picky about his treats. I had never in my life seen a dog turn down a cheese burger, but what can I say, he was just a fancy guy! 🦮 We used to call him our Kendall show dog because he came from championship bloodlines and I swear somehow he knew it. 😂 He never just walked anywhere, he pranced. Chest out, beautiful golden hair flowing, walking around the neighborhood like he was making his way around a show ring. That was just naturally how he walked and it was the cutest thing. He was such a classy guy. My sweet boy. The goodest boy who ever lived, and I told him every single day! He was there for so many parts of our lives… Our COVID puppy and Jason’s sidekick during the homeschooling days. He was there when Dad proposed. He was my travel soccer road trip partner, riding with me for hours to tournaments, staying in hotels and making his way onto more soccer fields than I can count as the very important “service dog” that he was 😉. He was there through a complete career change, so many trips, celebrations, changes in our lives and so many regular everyday moments that I would give anything to have back now. And when my dad passed away, Cash was there for me through that too. He was the big furry back I could hold on to and cry on. He gave us six years of so much laughter and joy. He loved us so much and we loved him right back. 🩵 We were with our boy until his very last breath, loving him and holding him, and reminding him just how much he was loved. The house feels so different without him. My heart is in pieces and I miss him more than I could ever explain. He was my soul dog. My sweet boy, and my best friend. I would give anything for one more swim, one more tennis ball, one more prance around the neighborhood, one more long car ride and one more chance to hold my big beautiful boy. I miss you so much, Cashy. I know you have your big old head plopped down on Abuelo’s lap watching over us. Till we meet again, my Goodest Boy 🤍 I will love and miss you forever.
