@imslimshadybeotch: This video actually brought me to tears. The sound of the bagpipes immediately made me think of my Grandpa. He was a proud Legion member, and they remind me of his commitment, his patriotism, and the pride he had in this country. He belonged to a generation that understood what it meant to stand up for Canada and for the freedoms we enjoy today. And lately, I can’t help but feel that this country has failed people like him by becoming afraid to defend the very freedoms, traditions, and values they worked so hard to protect. Canada should absolutely be a place where people are free to practise their faith. But respecting the beliefs of others should never require Canadians to be silent about our own history, Christian heritage, culture, or convictions. Watching this reminded me that we should never be afraid to stand peacefully and proudly for what we believe in. Our traditions matter too. Our history matters. And the freedoms previous generations fought to protect are worth standing up for. #bagpipes #calltoprayer

When I was deployed, Taliban launched rockets at our base and hit some stuff. Nobody injured though. The next morning, one of the guys from my company went up on the wall and played the star spangled banner on an electric guitar and a speaker (a big one) during their call to prayer.
