@barkatthenews: 36 years ago today, Megadeth unleashed Rust in Peace, an album that would become one of the defining releases of thrash metal. Released on September 24, 1990, Rust in Peace was Megadeth’s fourth studio album and marked a major turning point for the band. It was the first Megadeth album to feature guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza, joining frontman Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson. Produced by Mike Clink, the album delivered a relentless combination of complex guitar work, technical musicianship and Mustaine’s distinctive songwriting. From the opening attack of “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due” to the explosive “Hangar 18,” Rust in Peace showcased Megadeth at their most ambitious. The album also featured tracks including “Take No Prisoners,” “Five Magics,” “Poison Was the Cure” and “Tornado of Souls,” with Friedman’s celebrated solo on the latter becoming one of the record’s most memorable musical moments. Rust in Peace was both a critical and commercial success, reaching No. 23 on the Billboard 200 and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. Over the years, it has become widely regarded as a landmark album in the history of thrash metal. With its intricate riffs, blistering solos and uncompromising intensity, Rust in Peace remains a record that continues to inspire generations of metal musicians and fans. 36 years later, the riffs still hit just as hard. #Megadeth #RustInPeace #DaveMustaine #ThrashMetal #HeavyMetal @Megadeth @Dave Mustaine
