Motivation has always been difficult for me, but when I came home after giving birth to my daughter it was at an all time low. I was in pain, scared after spending a week on the neonatal unit with her, listening for every single breath. My anxiety was so high it left no room for anything else. I struggled to shower, brush my teeth, or do much of anything else. Thankfully I had my wonderful husband and mum around me who slowly gave me the space to work on it - plus I had my biggest motivator; my tiny daughter who needed me more than anyone else. So slowly but surely I started working on it. Brush teeth every day twice a day. Done Shower. Done After a week of consistency, add in some laundry. Done. And so on for the last few months. I am finally in a place where I can breathe and I feel that I have the mental capacity and space to take on tasks outside of basic self care and survival. But it took me months to get there. It's okay if it takes you months too. It's okay if you don't realise that this has been happening. In some ways being a healthcare professional helped. I was aware. I knew what was happening, the cycles I was getting into, and what could be done. But it needed time, a lot of work, and now, therapy. So. Much. Therapy. If you are in this stage of life or motherhood, just know I am rooting you on. Go, do they tiny thing you thought was insignificant. Do it every day. Celebrate it like it's a marathon, because right now, for you, it is. #MomsofTikTok #pickingupthepiecespostpartum #postpartummentalhealth #motivation #ugc
