it's ok. I've broken a rib sneezing and broken my nose by sleeping on it. there's no judgement here

Why wouldn’t they ask for an MRI right away? I have hypermobility and have sprained my ankles a lot and every time they ask for an MRI right away.

If it makes you feel better, I tore a ligament in my shoulder while playing pokemon go. In bed. 🙃
That was when my ortho said "yeaahh we're putting EDS in your chart"
I subluxxed from sitting weird while playing and didn't realize until the damage was done.
Hoping you don't need surgery. 🤞🤞

I was tested for diabetes 6 times in 8 weeks - no one believed me when I described my symptoms and would only talk to me after getting re-tested. I wasn't even in the pre-diabetes category, (TW: ED) and many doctors told me I had to stop eating as much as I was (often without asking about my diet at ALL) - I started at eating 1 meal a day and 2 snacks and wound up under doctor's telling me to eat less bc I was obese, I was eating a snack once a day at most. Turns out my issue was that I wasnt eating enough, causing me to faint, lose feeling in my toes due to poor circulation. I was very lucky to discover the truth myself and force myself to eat more, otherwise I might not be here. By the way? Didn't lose weight then, despite barely eating and excersizing a lot. Fatphobia k1lls people, especially when it comes to medicine.

I hate how common these situations are. Especially with limited access to healthcare and specialists.

It's horrible that eds is treated like this. I got diagnosed 3 years ago after they did the genetics test. Got diagnosed with h-eds. My GP, hospital amd everyone didn't know about it because the doctor forgot to send the letter and forgot to put it in my file.. so for 3 years I had to tell doctors I visited that I have eds but that they didn't put it in the file yet. so alot of them didn't believe me. Now 3 years later I finally have the letter since June but unfortunately a lot of doctors think eds isn't really a thing. So normally when I have an appointment in the hospital I call before to ask if I can see a doctor that knows about pots, eds and all my other things. or someone who is atleast willing to listen and learn

So I broke my arm in 3 places 20 years ago. My hand was always weak and never the same. This summer, I decided to hand wash a heavy hoodie. I ended up going to the hospital a week later because the pain got worse and worse… to be told I have an IOM injury 🙂↕️

girl… you need a bubble 🥲 i have eds and osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone syndrome) on top of it all, so i UNDERSTAND you😅 the state i live in has a separate orthopedic urgent care (specifically for minor orthopedic injuries. ie breaks, sprains, etc.) and i really think that needs to be standardized. especially when it comes to avoiding wait times to see certain orthopedists and minimizing ER visits.

Honestly it just proves that saying "it's not what you know but who you know" i know you're not thrilled about how you were only taken seriously because his mentor was your doctor but honestly i would take it as an advantage, at least you know if you ever have more ortho problems they will always listen to you. i totally get what you mean though, it's absolutely infuriating that it took you knowing someone he knows for him to fully take you seriously.

I don't even have a connective tissue disorder. I am just prone to tearing my tendons and ligaments in my ankles 😅
I have torn them so good they took a tiny piece of bone with them when they ripped themselves off the bone 😖 broken ankle diagnosis.

im glad that the dr eventually took you seriously.... my sports dr has her job cut out for her with my injuries.... knee caps moving diagonally instead of up and down... bruise on my tibia inside of my knee that would've split my leg straight down.... random joint issues.... I havent been diagnosed with anything yet, but im sure I have something wrong...
