THIS THIS THIS. I got engaged two weeks ago and NOBODY is going to care about it as much as I do or in the same way, and I don’t expect them to. We could all save ourselves a lot of heartache and pain by accepting that we are all flawed, we have our own stuff going on. It’s YOUR day not theirs. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t show up for the people in our lives, but stop expecting it be as important to them as it is to you.

I think it’s a deeper conversation than the village take. I think it’s possible that it’s one reason, I sometimes think this too when I see those videos, but I also think it’s because there’s a big societal view that weddings are the biggest day of a persons life, and this view sometimes pushes the people around you to behave strangely. I won’t go into detail because it’s too much but for myself and my best friend, we were incredibly shocked to lose family and close friends over our weddings for reasons beyond our control, and it was largely because we made innocent decisions that they didn’t like. You think that people couldn’t possibly behave so awfully and then they suddenly become really entitled over weddings
