Wishlist Loftia on Steam to support our game dev journey, and let us know what hairstyles you want to see next! 💛 Adding diverse hairstyles has been on our to-do list since day 1, and we’re so excited to be finally expanding our player customization catalogue 🙌. We wanted to start with black/textured hair as these styles have historically been underrepresented in games, so we wanted to make an effort to change that. Black/textured hair is a lot more three-dimensional and sculpted than other types of hair, requiring a lot more development time to make it look genuine. There aren’t a lot of resources or tutorials on 3D textured hair either, so we’ve had to test different tools and methods to nail the style. Unlike other hairstyles which involve layering flat hair planes, we’ve opted to hand-sculpt each black/textured hairstyle to make it look as genuine and real as possible, while still staying true to our cozy art style. We even built a shader to add different levels of texture and softness. ☁️ There’s more work to be done to make sure that each hairstyle doesn’t clip too much into certain hats and accessories (although this will be unfortunately unavoidable for a few styles), and we can’t wait to add even more options!
