🔴 BREAKING NEWS | FIRE AT HILL SCHOOL GIRLS–ELDORET Dormitory fire destroys property as investigations begin ELDORET, UASIN GISHU | SEPTEMBER 22, 2026 A fire broke out at Hill School Girls–Eldoret in the early hours of Tuesday, September 22, destroying a dormitory and personal belongings belonging to dozens of students. The fire reportedly started at around 5:00 AM in a dormitory housing approximately 340 Form Three and Form Four students. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported. At the time the fire broke out, the students were reportedly attending their morning preparations in classrooms away from the affected dormitory. The blaze caused extensive property damage, with reports indicating that several affected learners lost their personal school belongings in the fire. The Uasin Gishu County Fire Brigade responded to the scene alongside the Kenya Red Cross Society, helping to contain the fire and respond to the needs of the affected students. The Kenya Red Cross is also reportedly providing psychosocial support to students affected by the incident while assessing their immediate material needs. Meanwhile, security agencies have launched investigations to establish what caused the fire. The exact cause had not yet been established at the time of reporting. Hill School Girls–Eldoret is among institutions that transitioned to Senior School under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework in 2026, admitting Grade 10 learners across pathways including STEM, Social Sciences, Arts and Sports.
