I think people forget just how adaptable humans actually are in all situations.

The only thing I can’t do because of sight loss is drive. Yes I miss it, but I can’t change it. I can still do more things with sight loss than I can’t with sight loss so that’s how I look at it

I am visually impaired and work in the NHS and was a teacher before that. Despite mg vision struggles, I try my absolute best at work🫶 We are all people and just want to do our best in the world❤️

I’m visually impaired. I’ve got cerebral palsy. I have to use a mobility scooter., I’ve had some mental health issues and I still work well done you, we have to adapt, but if a company is willing to adapt then yeah, go for it. You don’t know until you try.

i became severely sight impaired at 31, after being a stay at home mum for 9 years. I have no qualifications (I'm now 39). My issue is that I have no idea what type of job I could do, especially with no quals above gcse level, or where to even start. I've never known 'what I wanted to be' job/career wise. I just feel so stuck.

I left uni after first year because I couldn’t access my degree since there were so many practicals I couldn’t see and maths on whiteboards that I couldn’t see and now I can’t get any entry level jobs because most want a drivers license and the other ones that don’t I just get overlooked because they’d rather have someone who can see properly

I have a visual impairment too and I would argue that people with a VI work harder or have a better work ethic because we have to work harder for the same opportunities and this is something I think employers don’t realise 🩷

Largely I think people believe that blindness is old people thing but so much awareness is now being raised and creatives on here explaining it’s not which I think is fantastic getting to do the things as you want to do can be quite challenging being given the opportunities and chances that’s a whole Nother story, but I love watching your videos and awareness that you raise

I really love listening to you. I really believe you will make a difference to the visually impaired people out there to encourage them that they can live a normal life because I’m sure there’s some out there that don’t as you say due to society. Keep posting x

I really love this post Jo, I don’t think many low vision people realize they can do anything they want with great tool kits today. I have been a CEO of three different organizations and so I have never let my low vision define me!

Out of curiosity did your degree and your experience working in heath psychology help you come to terms with your vision loss? X
