I feel like I’m actually there inside the story. Sometimes I become so deeply immersed in the movie that I almost forget my own reality. When it ends, it can take me quite a while to feel fully grounded and return to normal. I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD, and I’ve also been advised to have an assessment for possible autism. When i watched “ knowing” i literally felt the world was ending

when I watch a film I think its actually happening right there and then until someone reminds me its just a film. i get too absorbed / mentally affected. Now im older I have learnt only ever to watch light hearted films with basic storylines. never Ever horror films or thrillers.

I found it's part being understood, but also part escapism.
It's being completely immersed in another world placing yourself with the characters where you don't have to constantly mask or deal with anything.
I even get the same feeling from reading as with movies/series.

see I love films.but struggle to watch one in one sitting as I lose attention, so a film could take me like 5 hours to watch with all the pauses for a break to recover for a bit before continuing or even days like the other night I started to watch Micheal on blue ray with 45 mins left I turnt it off and will watch the last ending tomorrow

Is it possible for this to be the experience of intelligent or empathetic people without it necessarily being autism?
