@khaleejtimesofficial: Dubai mourned Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who passed away on September 21 at the age of 76. A 10-day official mourning period was declared across the emirate, with flags flown at half-mast. The fourth and youngest son of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Sheikh Ahmed played prominent roles across Dubai’s security, sports, horse racing and business sectors. He served as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security, chaired A.R.M. Holding and was President of Al Wasl Sports Club. A graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he later became Commander-in-Chief of Dubai’s Central Military Command. His legacy also extended to horse racing. He helped shape Jebel Ali Racecourse, which opened its first racing season in 1991, and remained a major patron of the sport. Through A.R.M.
