If you increase minimum wage, price of goods go up to pay for it cancelling it out. This is the only genuine way to give people more in their pocket and also gives relief to small businesses.

They could recoup some of the furlough money by adding a small amount of tax to anyone who got it. I don’t know why people who worked all through Covid and didn’t get furlough are expected to pick up the bill

it would be an interesting experiment. I've read a lot about giving more money to lower and middle income families kick-starts the economy since they spend that additional money. Something needs to change with the way the Budget is put together, since just taxing more doesn't work

its a start but still about 5k to low. it should be around 20k and payed for by adding increasing the additional rate at 125k from 45% to 55% and adding a 60% rate at 180k
