In 2005 KFC Australia released a commercial capitalising on the Mark Skaife vs. Marcos Ambrose V8 Supercars rivalry. In the ad, the bitter on-track rivals aggressively race each other into a drive-thru, with Ambrose pulling a blocking manoeuvre on Skaife in the "pit lane" to order a KFC Extreme Zinger Meal. The commercial playfully leaned into their very real 2004–2005 championship feuds, which included several infamous on-track collisions at Barbagallo and Eastern Creek. Mark Skaife drove for the Holden Racing Team; while Ambrose raced a Ford Falcon for Stone Brothers Racing. The Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) VY ClubSport and the Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) BA GT represent one of the most iconic chapters in the classic Australian V8 turf war. Released in the early 2000s, these two high-performance executioners went head-to-head for domestic muscle car supremacy. On paper, the FPV BA GT entered the ring with a massive power advantage over the initial VY ClubSport.
