I've always thought why do people hold books in such honour and respect when they only represent one person's pov of any given topic. why do we assume we can learn from them before investigating if they are the right content to learn from.

Kaizen is not a Japanese concept. Walter Shewhart and William Edwards Deming are both Americans, who were responsible for creating the concept and spreading it initially. The Japanese gave it a name, and suddenly people just assume the idea was Japanese.

When you survive a hellish childhood, you become a master of endurance. You learn to keep moving, to stay quiet, to take up as little space as possible. What you don't learn—what no one teaches you—is how deeply the experience rewires your beliefs about what you are allowed to have, to become, to hope for. I've been writing my memoirs for several years now, and that process of excavation has been the most honest, painful, and ultimately freeing work of my life. *Beyond Belief* by Nir Eyal arrived during a dry spell in that process like a hand extended across the table.
