@n4w30biy: Exploring the visual phenomenon of the Chicago skyline from 33 miles away in Indiana Dunes. How does the Earth’s curvature affect what we can see across the water? Join the discussion! #ChicagoSkyline #HorizonView #EarthCurvature #IndianaDunes #OpticalIllusions
but you can't see the base of the structures due to the curvature

OK, why hasn’t anybody gone to the edge of the Earth since it’s flat🤷🏻♂️

so, assuming your measurements are right:
distance 33miles = 54km
Chicago skyline= 500 meters
curvature over 54km=200meters
500-200= 300 meters visible part of Chicago skyline, what you see is normal for a global earth👍

almost like the buildings are tall

I am not seeing the bottom of the building please explain

thats not true at all. you can see well past 3 miles. and your clearly not taking the height of the buildings into consideration. however, if the earth was flat, and you can see those buildings then you should be able to see the base as well.

If the world was flat you would see the ground as well

And you notice you can’t see the bottom of the buildings. If you could see the bottom of the buildings and the coastline from across the way, then the flat earth theory might have some credence.

Why can’t we see the base of the buildings then?

If the Earth was flat, the Sun would go straight across our skyline, but we all see the Sun going around us every day. At a curve

I wonder sir, now I am no scientist but have you ever flown in an airplane above the clouds high enough that you can see the curvature of the Earth? I have many, many times. thank you though

You are seeing the top of the tall buildings. But you are not seeing people or cars due to the curvature.

Notice people how he keeps jiggling the camera so you don't notice how much of those shy scrapers are below the horizon. Lol

What we’re seeing as anything but the bottom 2530 feet of the buildings. 33 feet is not going to obscure a skyscraper.

So how come can’t see any street lights? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I see top of buildings so proves curvature

Weird that you can only see the upper parts of the tallest buildings.

so the curve of the earth drops enough so yhat the Base of the buildings, and the shore line can sit behind your horizon, so the tops can still poke into view at 33 miles, which is acually evidence of a curviture, the interesting bit here is that it's not a flaw in the photo, it's actually what you would expect to see on a curve earth, so once again thanks for proving the earth is a globe. here is a picture of Edinburgh from a 500 foot mountain in dundee, note that although Edinburgh castle is 40 miles away and is also 500 feet above sea level you can't see it because of the curve.

You have to travel at least eight thousand miles in a straight line to see the curvature
