Black Stars didn't make Semenyo the player he is today. His rise has been built on pure zeal, perseverance, hard work, and determination. We all know the current state of Ghana football has serious problems. The least said about our juvenile leagues and the U17, U20, and U23 teams, the better. From poor sports facilities and infrastructure to the overall development system, there are major issues that need urgent attention. After all the money Ghana has received through World Cup participation and FIFA development funds, it is baffling that we still struggle with basic football development structures. Then, all of a sudden, we expect results and success from the senior national team while the foundation is neglected. You cannot ignore development at the grassroots and expect excellence at the top. The problems run much deeper than individual players or coaches. SMH.
