Sleep number. Then if you have a CPAP or back injuries get a letter of NEED from your doctor and you can use your HSA money to pay for it.

you can return mattresses at Sam's club. So we got something we ended up hating, returned & got another one. 🤷♀️

Go to a mattress store and try them out. Get a Purple. Life changing. Don’t skimp on cost. You spend too much of your life sleeping to cheap out. Good luck.

as a fellow EDS'r. soft, the softest thing you can find. the process of it holding you as you said actually helps hold all the bendy joints. ive reduced my dislocation and subluxations so much with it.
when you need firm...just camp on the floor with a topper or something. stops the 2 different mattress needs.

Go to every store in your city and just try them all!! lol .. get matched. That’s what I did and in almost every store (except one) it was the purple mattress for me. Like someone said before, it’s an investment but so worth it! And then within the purple family there are soooo many different options lol but the sales person was knowledgeable! I told them all my “issues” and instantly was matched correctly!

I recommend a regular firm mattress and add a thick gel foam topper and pillow top topper if you want that extra fluff😆 our beds are super comfy, no built in topper that gets smashed in and requires a full mattress replacement too soon, btw I'm also a side sleeper.

I have tons of joint issues and chronic pain. Same with heat. We just bought a split king purple mattress and got the adjustable base! Zero gravity position on it is AMAZING for my joints! We got the purple rejuvenate royale crown mattress. It has a pillow top on top of the grid. We had a purple mattress prior to this that was 12 years old and had the grid. I HATED it. I can use my heated mattress pad on this one!

Purple Mattresses are the best mattresses I've ever used. I'm a bit overweight and menopausal back sleeper and mine is amazing. I have one in my room, guest room and RV.

Do NOT get a sleep number! They aren’t as good as they use to be. We bought one and it felt like we were sleeping on expensive air mattresses. Get a mattress that has 90-120 day trial. My husband and I got 2 XL twins, he has his firm concrete bed and I have my pillow soft but supportive mattress. I think I got the Beautyrest Black pillow top. I wake up with no back pain it’s plush but supportive

Go to a sleep number mattress place. Even if you don’t get one they make it a whole experience, it’s really fun!

Firmer mattress with a thick, soft topper (possibly a memory foam topper). You can remove the topper when you need a firmer mattress to sleep on and use the topper when you need a softer mattress to sleep on. The only real downside is if you are prone to hot flashes yet (I’m 42 and I get them) then a super quilty topper can get you very hot.

Also hyper mobile with shoulders that subluxation while laying on my side. I got a very expensive Kings Down Mattress. It has all the support with an amazing gel and floof pillow top. It’s both super plush and supportive. On bad days I sleep on 9 pillows arranged to support everything. Down and a really good down alternative. They are super soft but also hug you.

Get a Sleep Number. I have the M7 which is a memory foam. It’s got dual twin bladders inside, however, it’s inside one giant mattress case so you don’t feel any seams or splits. You don’t feel any break between the sides. I have a king and I EFFING LOVE IT. Worth the investment. Hope this helps.

Most mattress stores will allow you to do an overnighter. You normally have to bring your own bedding, and get up pretty early. But it’s fun.

You can do an adjustable frame in a king, and you would get 2 xl twins. If you get the adjustable frame, you want to either make sure the frame has guards on the sides and the bottom so the mattress doesn’t slide. And then you can buy a bed bridge. It’s cheap and basically makes it the king. The big thing is that you will need to buy split king sheets. So it’s a fitter for your side and fitted for the other side and then the big top sheet.

A friend once told me this life advice: Do not skimp on your mattress. You spend at least a third of your life in bed, be good to yourself! I had this same dilemma a few years ago. The store I purchased based my mattress from had a 30 day free trial. If after 30 days you decide it’s not comfortable you can return it. That may be an option for you. Good luck!
