I usually tell people to keep their current job and do their business at the weekends and spare time. As your business takes off, ask to get your main job to take you on part time. When the business has gained enough traction to pay all your bills. Quit your old job and do your own business full time. This way, you always have an income and if your business fails, you still have your main job

I started a business with my wife 5 years ago when I was 58. We now turnover 1.5m a year and have a ROI of 47% pa. It’s stupidly hard and we never have time nor spare cash but we both would not go back. There are no short cuts, skill, determination, research, planning and sheer bloody mindedness are needed.
