@thebronxzoo: In this video, the mouse lemurs in the World of Darkness are interacting with a snakeskin shed provided by their keepers as a novel sensory enrichment item. Senior Keeper Keri tells us that the shed has a scent and texture that the mouse lemurs haven’t experienced before. Mouse lemurs rely heavily on their sense of smell for survival, and offering them items with new odors can help mimic the varied sensory environment of the wild and encourages active foraging, curiosity, and natural scent-marking. 📹: Keeper Sydney
